Have you seen your buddies play Blackjack and still you restrain yourself from playing this excellent and intriguing game of cards simply because you do not know the terms used in this game? Well, then this article will help you in a great deal in finding out all the aspects of the Blackjack game, the terms used and a guide on how to play this game as well.

The primary rule in the Blackjack game is that the players (who are given three cards from a deck) should not exceed the value 21 when their cards are totaled. And the player with the least value will be declared the winner. So, here are the terms used in Blackjack explained in a clear manner.

Bust or burn or Exit:
It is a situation when a player has a total of over 21 when his/her cards are totaled. The player invariably has to render the losses once the total crosses 21.

Double:
This is a situation when a player can increase the amount of bet to twice the value of the original amount he/she has placed before the cards were given in hand and also drawing only one card from the deck.

Blackjack:
This is the term used when a player has a total of 21 just with two cards; say an ace with a ten or a face card with a ten.

Natural:
This is same as that of the blackjack. This term is used in parts of UK and France.

Insurance:
This is a safety measure to ensure there is no further loss because of the type of cards in hand. This option allows the player to reduce or halve the bet amount from the originally placed bet if the player feels that he/she will surely lose. This is not practiced in all of the casinos. However, most casinos allow the players to take the insurance option if the first two cards given by the dealers end up as “Natural/Blackjack”.

Draw:
This means to take another card from the dealer. This is normally done when the player is not entirely confident with the sum of the three cards and feels that there are chances of a card with a lower face value. Example (7+8+3); the player is not sure whether to “stand” or have an “upcard”

Stand:

This means to restrain from drawing another card from the deck as the player feels that he/she is secure with this set of numbers.

Upcard:
This is when the player shows all the cards and asks the others to show as well. The player with the least number takes away all the money.

Hope this small piece of article was helpful enough to make you play Blackjack.
